Privacy Policy

Introduction
StableUnit ("we,” “us,” or “our”) is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect from users of our Services, how we use and share that information, and your rights with respect to your personal data. This Policy applies when you use our website, the StableUnit app interface (app.stableunit.org), and any other online services or content we provide that link to this Privacy Policy (collectively, the “Services”). It is incorporated into and subject to our Terms of Service. By using the Services, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this Policy. If you do not agree with this Policy or the Terms, you should not use the StableUnit Services.
StableUnit operates a decentralized protocol on public blockchains, and as such, many transactions and data about those transactions are publicly visible on the blockchain. It's important to understand that blockchain networks are transparent and immutable; we do not control the data you record on the blockchain through your use of the Protocol. In many cases, StableUnit does not have the ability to alter or delete information that is stored on a blockchain (for example, your wallet's transaction history on Ethereum). However, when it comes to data that we collect and manage off-chain (through our web interface or analytics), this Policy describes how we handle that information.
Data We Collect
We collect personal data and usage data in order to operate our Services and improve the user experience. The types of information we may collect include:
Blockchain Wallet Information:
When you connect a non-custodial cryptocurrency wallet to the StableUnit interface, we collect and log your public blockchain address (wallet address). This address is a string of characters (public key) that is publicly visible on the blockchain and is not, by itself, personally identifying information (as it does not include your name or identity). We use your wallet address to enable Service functionality (e.g., to display your balances or transaction history via the interface) and for compliance purposes. For example, we may screen wallet addresses against blockchain analytics databases to check for prior illicit activity or sanctioned status. This helps us prevent fraudulent or illegal use of the Services. Important: We do not ask you to provide any private keys or seed phrases – we only collect the public wallet address and related on-chain data.
Device and Usage Information:
We automatically collect certain information about the devices and how you interact with our Services. This may include:
Device/Browser Data: Information about your device type, operating system, browser type, and version, as well as device identifiers. For instance, we might detect if you are using a mobile device vs. a desktop, or the screen size, to optimize our interface.
Usage Data: Details about your use of the Services, such as the pages or screens you visit, features you use, buttons or links you click, the time and duration of your visits, and other interaction information. This also includes your IP address and the date/time of your requests, which are commonly logged by web servers. We may associate your wallet address with this usage data in our analytics systems to understand user behavior (e.g., which features are most used). However, this data is generally analyzed in aggregate form, and we do not profile individual users for marketing – it's used to improve the Service's functionality and security.
Cookies & Tracking Technologies:
We (or third-party service providers working on our behalf, such as those providing analytics or security services) may use cookies, local storage, or similar tracking technologies in the web interface. These technologies can help remember your preferences (like your chosen network or UI settings), keep you logged in between sessions, or gather analytics about how users navigate our site. You can control cookies through your browser settings, but note that disabling cookies might affect certain features of the Services (like interface customization or authentication).
Communication Data:
If you choose to contact us or communicate with the StableUnit team, we will collect the information you voluntarily provide. For example:
Support Inquiries: If you email us, open a support ticket, or message us on official channels (Discord, Telegram, etc.), we may collect your name, email address, social media handle, or other contact info along with the content of your communication. This might include details you share about a problem you're experiencing or feedback on the protocol.
Surveys and Feedback: We may occasionally offer surveys or ask for feedback. If you participate, we'll collect the responses you give. Participation in these is optional, and you can choose how much information to provide.
Job Applications: (If applicable) Should we post any job openings and you apply, we would collect the personal information you provide in your application (such as resume/CV details, contact information, etc.). This is mentioned for completeness, though it may not be directly relevant to typical users of the DeFi app.
Public Forum Data:
If StableUnit hosts a community forum or governance discussion platform and you participate (for example, posting proposals or comments on a governance forum), the content you post is public. We may collect your forum username and any information you disclose in your posts. Note that such forums are typically public (in line with decentralized governance principles), and you should not expect privacy for information you voluntarily publish there. However, any data we maintain about forum users (like an email for forum account creation) would be handled in accordance with this Policy.
We do not deliberately collect sensitive personal information such as real name, address, government ID numbers, or financial account information as part of normal protocol usage. There is no need to provide such information to use StableUnit's DeFi Services. The only identifying information we directly use is your blockchain wallet address and whatever user name or basic contact info you might provide when reaching out to us. We also do not collect any special categories of personal data (such as information about racial or ethnic origin, political opinions, health, etc.), and we ask that you do not send us this type of information when contacting support.
How We Use Your Information
We use the collected information for various purposes consistent with providing and improving the Services and as required by law. Our uses include:
Providing and Improving the Services:
We use your information to operate StableUnit's core functionality. For example, your wallet address is used to fetch and display your balances, calculate your USD Pro yield, or execute transactions you request via the interface. Device and usage information help us troubleshoot issues and optimize the interface for different devices and usage patterns. We analyze usage trends in aggregate to understand how features are used, so we can improve user experience and develop new features. This is done under our legitimate interest in continually improving our product.
Security and Fraud Prevention:
Information we collect (especially wallet activity and IP/device data) is used to keep the Services secure and combat fraud or abuse. This includes screening wallet addresses for known threats or illicit funds, monitoring usage for suspicious patterns (e.g., an abnormal number of requests that might indicate a bot or attack), and enforcing our Terms of Service. If we detect potential illegal behavior or violations (such as use from a sanctioned jurisdiction or attempts to exploit the protocol), we may use the data to block access or report the behavior to relevant authorities. Ensuring the integrity and security of the platform is a key legitimate interest and often a legal obligation.
Compliance with Legal Obligations:
We may process and retain certain data as necessary to comply with applicable laws and regulations. For instance, if required, we could use wallet and transaction information to comply with anti-money laundering (AML) laws or sanctions requirements (e.g., maintaining records of blocked addresses). If we receive a lawful subpoena or request from law enforcement, we might need to provide certain user data (such as logs or communications) as mandated by law. We will only do so after verifying the legitimacy of the request and to the extent required by law.
Communications:
If you contact us or provide contact information, we will use that information to respond to you. For example, if you email support, we use your email to communicate back and resolve your issue. We may also send service-related communications or important updates. Examples include: changes to terms or policies, security alerts (like if we discover a security incident that may affect you), or technical notices. We will not send promotional or marketing emails about unrelated products without your consent; any communications will be strictly related to the StableUnit Services or your use of them.
Analytics and Research:
We may use aggregated and de-identified information about how users interact with StableUnit for research, analytics, and business development. For instance, we might compile statistics on the number of active users, the geographic distribution of users (using IP data at a country level), or protocol usage metrics. This information helps us demonstrate growth or usage patterns (perhaps in DAO governance reports or when working with partners) and guide decisions on where to allocate resources. Importantly, this analysis does not identify you personally – we remove or anonymize personal data (like hashing or aggregating wallet addresses) so the insights are purely statistical. Any insights we share publicly will be presented in this aggregated and anonymized format.
Service Providers:
We may use third-party service providers to perform functions on our behalf and help us operate the Services – for example, cloud hosting providers for our website, analytics services to analyze data, or security services to scan for vulnerabilities. These providers might process your data as part of their service to us. We ensure that we have appropriate agreements in place with any processors that handle personal data, obligating them to only use the data for our specified purposes and to protect it adequately.
Merger or Reorganization:
If StableUnit (or the entity operating the interface) is involved in a merger, acquisition, financing due diligence, or sale of assets, user information might be disclosed as part of that transaction, subject to confidentiality agreements. If a change of ownership occurs, we will ensure the successor is bound by terms similar to this Privacy Policy with respect to
